One of the most bare Peninsulas in South Australia, but some of the most special memories we hold close to us. Below we have mapped out where we stayed and what we explored to help with your planning.

Yorke Peninsula
Another Day, Another Peninsula!!! We weren’t too sure what to expect with the Yorke Peninsula as we hadn’t heard much about it before leaving on our Lap. To be honest we didn't hear much about South Australia, and it had already knocked our socks off so we had pretty high expectations for the Yorke!
It has such a different contrast to the Fleurieu Peninsula and I think only a certain amount of people would really enjoy it.
From the Barren Landscapes to the crystal clear beaches with Dolphins everywhere you go it has a beauty all on its own.
We didn’t Stay at too many different Camp spots due to our caravan being able to fit or us not wanting to take it down heavily corrugated roads so we narrowed it down to 4 camp spots for the entire week and half we were there.
The Weather once again can really make or break a trip and we were lucky enough to have great weather while we stayed the whole time!
Parara Campground Ardrossan
This campground is set in a bush setting on the beach where it's famous to rake crabs. It cost $10 a night to stay but if you jump online to book you can get a weekly pass to most of the Yorke Peninsula Campgrounds for $50 so that only works at to be $7.15 per night which I think is quite good when you are on a budget.
Ardrossan is a small town so there isn’t that much to do but the jetty has awesome squid fishing again which Kurt was lucky to Catch a squid the second day we were visiting.
Barker Rocks Campground
This campground is set on the Eastern side of the Yorke Peninsula, roughly 40 minutes from Point Turton. We only stayed here one night as it wasn’t that suited to spend a long time here only fitting roughly 6 vans down the bottom and 4 set ups on the top of the dunes.
This Camp once again was part of the $50 a week permit so we didn’t have to book anything extra for it.
Daly Head Campground
Now I am not sure if you saw on our socials the stories from spending 5 nights here at Daly Heads how much we liked it, but ill tell you again! Its amazing!!!!
You do have to Jag the weather as the wind will really depend whether you have a good stay or not. We somehow got the luck of amazing weather and had some amazing sunsets and sunrises on our trip so far.
We were fine getting in with our van just have to take it slow, there are plenty of spots to pick from not to mention some of the best fishing the boys have encountered, just ask Kurt about his Salmon!
Each day we day tripped around the bottom of the Peninsula to Innes National Park, Yorke Town, Point Turton and Flaherty's Beach so it was a great base to park up and see The yorke for all it has!
The campground has a drop toilet and is part of the deal for $50 a week.
This was by far our Fav spot on the Yorke Peninsula, as you can tell by my excitement!

Innes National Park
This was one of our favorite national parks on our trip as we experienced the most amazing moment ever..... Stay Tuned!
When you arrive at the entrance of the National Park you need a day pass for which was $10 or $8 concession and it was more so accessible by 4wd but 2wd did make some areas just check on the map at the information centre where you want to go.
There are so many stops to stop in at which we will be listing in our South Australia Itinerary so keep an eye out!
To finish the day off we decided to stay at Ethel Wreck for the rest of the afternoon and cook dinner ready for the sunset, this is where we had the most amazing experience ever!
As we were sitting on the beach surrounded by the towering cliffs we saw dolphins swimming up and down the beach, at the start there would have been 6 of them swimming along slowly having a feed, as we started running up and down the beach trying to capture some images another group of dolphins decided to join which made for the biggest pod I had ever seen, and just when I thought it couldn’t get much better they all decided to have some fun and start jumping and surfing the waves………. It was the most unforgettable moment ever!!!!! They did this for hours while we watched.

Moonta
This was just an overnighter as we were making our way over to the eyre peninsula so we checked out the town and explored a little before heading off the next day!
We stayed at the RV rest stop in town that was a donation at the visitors centre, it wasn’t anything fancy just a dust bowl but it has water and a dump point so perfect for the one night.
We went down to the jetty that afternoon and it was a beautiful day, clear skies and warm weather.
So many people were swimming off the Jetty and there is a kids water park for free here that runs two session times, we don’t have kids but we thought this was so cool for families.

Port Pirie
Port Pirie is a not so small town as you enter the Yorke or leave the Yorke which ever way you are coming from. We stopped here the very first time we entered SA back in November!
This is such a great town to stock up on all those items you have needed for ages, like Groceries (Woolworths and Coles) Beer fridge stock up, Meat Stock up ( Awesome butcher right next to the Woolworths) and anything else you need you will find all major Department Stores.
We didn’t Stay in Port Pirie as we were down the road at Port Germein, however there are 2 free camps in Port Pirie that you could pull up at that looked quite ok!
MAP OF YORKE PENINSULA TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND THE DISTANCES!

We hope this helps with Planning your trip around the beautiful Yorke Peninsula and if you love this post help us by giving it a like and a comment.
