We love our HipCamps and have been booking sites since 2019, so Being chosen as a winter hipcamp mate was such a fun experience even though we have camped in every season before. Camping in Winter can be daunting for some but I think it can be so cosy and a great way to experience the outdoors during this chilly season. I have compiled a list of our recent camps and the highlights of the trips to help you get out and start booking with Hipcamp! 'Click on the name of the stay to take you directly to the Booking page'
CAMPING - BECAUSE THERAPY IS EXPENSIVE!
1. The Muddy Bangalow ~ This cabin was the perfect getaway especially as i was doing this trip on my own. With Kurt working away i decided to pick a cosy cabin stay in the beautiful town of Bangalow NSW! I packed some food for Dinner and arrived late in the afternoon to the most beautiful setting on this farm.
The owners were amazing and made me feel so safe and at home in this unique little cabin. With Complete privacy this stay is situated on their dam and only 10 minutes into town for any supplies.
The Perfect getaway for couples, there is one bedroom, a bathroom and fully stocked kitchen with some of the best appliances and utensils even providing chargers, bakeware and all the basics like coffee, tea ,oil ,salt and pepper and condiments. it was quite chilly when i arrived they had an oil heater on for me to warm the cabin up, however they were in the process of installing a fireplace which will be amazing when complete. My two nights here were amazing and i highly suggest you check out the markets in town on the Saturday!!
2. Alpaca Farm Camp ~ This camp was hidden in the rainforest of the NSW with our very own alpaca's. With Toilets and a basic camp kitchen this camp would be perfect for those who want to camp minimalist.
Perfect for winter camping as you can have Fires and also there is space for caravans and camper trailers. I'm not going to lie it was absolutely freezing the two nights we stayed but we had all the right clothing with our Macpac jackets and a warm fire so we survived.
Close to the town of Murwillumbah if you need any supplies, fire wood, food, or even just a stroll through the cute town.
At 5pm its Alpaca feeding time so it would be perfect for the little kiddies and also to mention its dog friendly as you will get to meet the resident dog who loves to play fetch.
3. Kingsland Camping ~ This beautiful Hipcamp is Situated in the Scenic Rim at the base of Mt Maroon. There are sites closer to the home for caravans however if you have something a little offroad i would suggest our area at the base with the most amazing view over the valley.
There is a composting toilet here however that is all in terms of facilities. You can have campfires and is the perfect spot to stay if you are up for hiking Mt Maroon.
With not much close by this is the perfect offgrid weekend getaway that you have been looking for. We had the most amazing sunrises as we woke up in our roof top tent. We cannot wait to go back when we get our offroad caravan and put it to the test.
4. Endless Water Views ~ The name says it all, this Hipcamp is situated on Somerset Dam about and hour and half from Brisbane. If you are into watersports or just love relaxing overlooking a water view this spot is for you.
The only issue we had here was the site wasn't very level and may require levelling if you have a van, a few level sites are available in certain spots and we snagged the first one so it may have been a bit tricky if we didn't have the site we picked.
The owners once had water access from their property but with Council blocking it the closest water access for boats, kayaks and paddle boards is 5 minutes down the road to the public area, which in my opinion was amazing anyway, with a swimming area and a little shop to stop and get some ice creams it was the perfect day area.
The property has potable water available for $10 a day for as much as you like just make sure you bring a jerry can. Fires are also permitted and in the area so many properties are selling firewood for $10 a bag.
5. Glamping Silo - Ok, so this isn't Camping but you just change the C for a G and your still camping right? This picturesque stay is situated in Ironbark Toowoomba about 2 and half hours from the Gold Coast.
The name says its all, yep that's right you stay in a Silo!!! But you can also camp here and have completely secluded campsites with views over the Toowoomba Valley.
This Silo has 2 x Stretcher beds with comfy mattresses and blankets, tea and coffee and mood lighting as it is totally off grid but our favourite feature of this stay was the pot belly stove fireplace that kept us warm all night long. You can purchase firewood to fuel it or just have a fire outdoors with your own little sitting area. The amenities in this stay were 5 star, situated in the hanger shed plenty of toilets and the most amazing hot shower we have ever had. As its in Toowoomba there are plenty of things to see and do within a 30 minute drive either way you want to explore.
This has been one of my favourite stays as everywhere you look it was stunning, especially at sunrise and sunset so I can see why they also do weddings here.
6. Towering Sioux Indian Tipi Stay ~ If you are looking for a unique stay with culture this is it! Situated in the hinterland of Sunshine Coast this stay was by far one of the most stunning we have visited.
This stay doesn't only have a Tipi Stay they have glamping tents and cabins as well with some of the best facilities and amenities you will see at a camp.
There is a camp kitchen for those staying in the tipi and glamping tent, with a fridge to store food, a bbq to cook along with utensils and cutlery all the basics to cook a meal. The showers are some of the most unique we have used and were nice and hot and well lit up at night.
You can purchase firewood and have a fire all in your own little area! This is what we loved about this stay we were so far away from everyone else.
This farm has some of the nicest walks down to the creek and around the property you will have so much to keep you busy when you are not relaxing.
Only 25 minutes to Montville and 30 minutes to Maleny you have plenty to do for Day trips or if you require supplies.
if you are after a unique experience we highly recommend this stay for a cute weekend away.
I hope we have given you a few new spots to add to your list and have given you the confidence to book with Hipcamp for your next holiday away!
